Teaching
The Infallible, authoritative life producing Word of God.
Correcting
False theories, erroneous doctrinal teaching, and practices. Without correction, churches and family will run into the ditch. Correction must not be quarrelsome, but with gentleness and based on the truth of God's Word in love.
Training
Righteousness is beyond an act on Sunday morning. Jesus is our righteousness. Training here refers to the chastening, instruction, and nurturing. God tutors us in His word through holy men and women inspired by His Spirit to understand and benefit through learning.
Reproofing
To reprimand and convict by exposing (sometimes publicly) a wrong.
We normally think of a rebuke in a negative sense, but Proverbs 27:5-6 says, “Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”
Perfecting
The Scripture is a thorough equipping tool, providing doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction, so that everyone may be equipped for every good work. Using scripture, leaders is to lay the foundation, provide direction, confront others when they err, correct their behavior, and help them progress again.
